On the third weekend in August, St. Joseph has a Community Festival. The Chamber of Commerce sponsors a contest for boys and girls going into 1st grade at St. Joseph Elementary. Parents have the option of entering their children into the contest. The community votes for their favorite candidate. The winners are crowned on Friday evening by Mayor B.J. Hackler and all participants receive prizes and ride in the parade on Saturday.
